The mouse for the business user review

Unotron and Jasco peripherals stand up to heavy use

Marina Ricci

Highlights

  • The Unotron ScrollSeal washable optical mouse is washable, ergonomic and quiet.
  • The Jasco wireless mini optical mouse by GE is portable, easy to use and comfortable.
  • Either of these mice make great alternatives to the average computer peripheral.

Enterprise Management Quarterly has reviewed keyboards and mice in the past, but this time we wanted to let users know what we think of computer mice that would specifically be used by business users.

First, we reviewed Unotron’s corded ScrollSeal washable optical mouse. From reviewing their products months ago, we know that we can spill anything from water to full cans of coke on their products and it won’t make any difference in terms of performance.  However, could the mouse function up to par with the competition?  The simple answer is “Yes and then some.”

The mouse features a large textured white top, which makes hand position comfortable, especially when mouse use has to be extended for longer periods of time throughout the workday.  The hand contours on the top and rests, requiring only minimum movement for clicking and scrolling.

The click feature is quieter than most mice, ensuring that coworkers will not be bothered with frequent clicking if necessary.  In addition, the scroll is silent and very easy to use on sites where it’s a welcomed feature.

Overall, Unotron’s washable optical mouse is a great desk mouse for the business executive who finds himself using a mouse for extended periods of time and wants both functionality and comfort.  In addition, this is one of the few mice on the market that can be washed or can sustain any type of water accident without a hindrance to performance.

The Jasco wireless mini optical mouse by GE came to our office attached to a neoprene laptop sleeve. While it said that it was mini, the mouse was a good desktop size and had great plug and play features with a nano-sized receiver that was stored inside the mouse.  Upon plugging the receiver into a USB port on our CPU, we were off to work.

The sleek design contoured for the hand made hand placement effortless.  While we can’t submerge it in water like the Unotron mouse, it does give greater flexibility when it comes to business users who travel with their laptops.  The mouse is small enough to store but comfortable enough to use, and it became a big hit in our office.  The red shiny design also makes the mouse a great addition for those who want to make a fashion statement with their computer desk accessories.
